Threshold (2025)
My anxieties surrounding the current political and ecological climate called for an adjustment of my threshold for patience and endurance. I’ve performed this ice holding meditation numerous times before. In most cases, taking a block of ice on a hike that only ends when it is completely melted. In this instance, I felt drawn to using a pillowcase; filling it with 8lbs of ice, the weight of a newborn child; and rocking, singing, and praying to it as it melted into the stream bed.
